The best SEO strategy, at a general level and without going into technical details, in most cases consists of applying a centralized model with a single core (for example a car sales website) and multiple satellites (for example a blog and multiple social networks) without ever losing track of what the main objective of the business is (sell cars, attract customers… etc).
Important parts of an SEO strategy
In a slightly more detailed and theoretical way, the most important parts of a good SEO strategy are:
- Identify and always keep in mind the main objective of the business. SEO or improving the positioning of a website is not an objective in itself, it’s the way to achieve an objective (car sales).
- Identify the core or main site (website to sell cars) and channel traffic to it, not the other way around.
- Identify the satellites or secondary sites that we have (for example a blog, Facebook and Twitter) and the role they play in the general scheme.
- Redirect web traffic from satellites to the core, not the other way around. Any SEO strategy that we carry out (for example, getting references or links from a quality page to ours) will be focused on the core and not on the satellites.
- Execute at the core the central objective of the business. The central purpose of the business (selling cars) is carried out in the core and not in the satellites, which means, for example, that we will not sell cars through a social network, but rather we will focus on redirecting traffic from social networks to the sales website to carry out the operation there.
- Don’t lose focus. Our objective is not, in any case, to use SEO to redirect web traffic to satellites nor to sell through them. Obviously, the better SEO the satellites have, the more traffic they will attract to the main website and this, in turn, will have a positive impact on the main objective of the business, but it is not our main objective that, for example, we have many “likes” on Facebook.
Practical example of SEO strategy

As we have already seen, the ideal is to have a core and multiple satellites to redirect traffic to the core, which is where the main action of the business takes place.
In more detail in our SEO strategy example we have the following elements:
- Main business objective. Sell second-hand cars to the public.
- Core or main site. Car sales website.
- Satellites or secondary sites. We have a blog and social networks Facebook and Instagram. In the blog we will publish information about the latest car models along with technical information about them, pros and cons, analysis… etc. On Facebook we will publish the latest entries from our blog, interesting articles from other websites and we will interact with customers. On Instagram we will post photos of cars and interact with the public.
With all of the above we will achieve a centralized SEO strategy, that is, redirect traffic from secondary sites (blog and social networks) to the main site (car sales website) so that the business objective (sale) can be carried out there.
